I wish I'd been able to see the two images close together like this while I was painting it, oh, well.... It certainly is a learning experience when you copy from a master. It is, however, still just copying, and when you paint alla prima you have to make each decision for yourself.. is it cooler or warmer, darker or lighter, is the drawing right? Measure, measure, measure, and through all this, you learn.

Ahhh looks fantastic! I can't seem to find my way to a scanner, but I've been sketching, I promise... I've mostly been flickring though!
You'd better - I have everyone looking for your Italian work!
This came out great. I can hardly tell the difference between the two. Honestly.
You're too kind, Mar, now that I see them together there are many things I'd change. But the images are slightly different in size, so that matters, too.
I can't tell either - of course one is more blue and the other more red, but the composition & style is very close! I love it!
Well, I had 3 images to view and one was very blue (that's the biggest, so that's the one I copied) one was rose-y and one was quite yellow! Such are the travails of dealing with different prints. When I saw this last summer, I think it was very neutral, though.
hey...I like yours better!
