Of A Feather

Raw day today. For the first time in NINE months I don't have an 'agenda', or something specific to paint for. I don't know what I'll do with this, it's 12x12, I just love sparrows. I have a photograph of lots of sparrows on a bare tree, and I like to pick certain ones to paint. This painting was a lot about layers of color applied, then scraped away, as well as a note of forlorn, like a November day, although it's not quite that month!

This piece has such a peaceful feeling. The softness of the palette and the way you handle the paint really has a soothing quality.

Kelly, I really like this painting and would like to see it in person. Am curious about the textures of scratching and layering. I like the positioning of birds looking in different directions. Good composition.
PS. difficult to read some of these comments

Yeah, I got *spammed*, how about that? I deleted them, but don't really want to go to the extra security of the word verification!
